Pakistan Grand Mufti strongly condemns US oppressive sanctions against Iran

Karachi, IRNA -- The Grand Mufti of Pakistan expressing his condolences to the people and government of the Islamic Republic of Iran against US unilateral actions strongly condemned US sanctions against Iran and termed them cruel.

Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman, President of Dar-ul-Uloom Naeemia and Tanzeem-ul-Madaris on Monday met with Secretary-General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought Hamid Shahriari in southern city of Karachi on Monday. 

Molavi Nazir Ahmad Salami, Member of Iranian Assembly of Experts and some experts from Iranian Consulate General in Karachi and officials of the National Solidarity Council of Pakistan were also present in the meeting.

The Grand Mufti of Pakistan expressed satisfaction with the visit of the delegation of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought to Karachi and its’ presence at Dar-ul-Uloom Naeemia noting the importance of strong and historical commonalities between Iran and Pakistan. 

He stated the Americans, the Zionist regime and its Western allies have committed unilateral and oppressive actions against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which we strongly condemn.

"We support Iran in international developments and are aware of the anti-Iranian conspiracies of the United States, the West and Israel," said Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman.

Appreciating the positions of Iran in the discussion of rapprochement and emphasizing respect for the sanctities of Islamic religions, he stressed that the promotion of Islamic unity and solidarity requires practical steps and result-oriented measures.

He emphasized the key role of Islamic scholars, especially Shiite elites, in encouraging Muslims to unite, tolerance and interaction.

Addressing the Secretary-General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought he said we assure you that we have spared no effort to strengthen solidarity and unity among the Islamic sects and that the Sunni community is determined to be innocent of any division and conflict.

Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought Hamid Shahriari leading a delegation has arrived in southern city of Karachi on eighth day of his visit to Pakistan.

During his stay in Karachi, he is scheduled to meet with senior leaders of Islamic sects to discuss strengthening consensus, issues in the Islamic world, and promoting Islamic solidarity, especially between Muslim nations and neighboring Iran and Pakistan.
